Nuratau Village Home Stay and Hiking Tours from Samarkand
Day 1 Samarkand to Nuaratau Mountain Villages
Hotel Pickup from Samarkand: Meet your driver at your hotel reception. Departure from Samarkand to Nuratau Mountain Villages. On the way, your driver can make several stops upon request. The journey will take approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes.
- Arrival at Nuratau Villages - If you depart from Samarkand at morning hours you will arrive in Village around lunch time and will be welcomed with lunch. .
- Check-in at Guest House -
- Guided Hiking Tour by Local Host - The walk features unique natural rock formations along the way, complemented by glimpses of local village life, including agriculture, shepherding, traditional houses, and everyday routines. .
- Dinner - Join a masterclass on cooking traditional dishes at a village guesthouse, and enjoy homemade meals.
- Overnight in Village Guest House
Day 2 Village to Samarkand or Bukhara.
Breakfast. After having breakfast you can do the following activities:
- Horseback Hiking Tour - Upon request, a horseback hiking tour can be arranged. After finishing the tour, return to the guesthouse and depart from the village back to Samarkand or Bukhara.
- Transfer from Village to Samarkand - This is a direct transfer. The Drive will take around 4-4.5 hours.
- Transfer from Village to Samarkand - On the Way to Bukhara you can visit the following places:
- The Fortress of Alexander the Great in Nuratau - built in the 4th century BCE, served as a strategic outpost during his Central Asian campaign. Though mostly in ruins, its remains still overlook the valleys of the Nuratau Mountains.
- Sharmyshsoy Gorge - known for its petroglyphs (ancient rock carvings), dating back thousands of years. More than 6,000 petroglyphs have been discovered there, depicting hunting scenes, wild animals, daily life, and spiritual symbols from the Bronze Age and later periods..
- The Gijduvan Ceramic School - famous for its unique geometric patterns, vibrant colors, and glazing techniques passed down through generations. It is part of Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage and continues to train artisans today..
- Drive to Bukhara - The drive to Bukhara will take approximately 5–6 hours. If you prefer, your driver can stop at local restaurants for lunch (not included) along the way. .
Break for Lunch (Optional) - in case you wish to have lunch there can be arranged a stop in Nuratau at a Local Teahouse.
